Ask for Email to Access Download

With the “Ask For Email” feature, you can turn your download button into a powerful lead generation tool. Here’s how it works: users simply provide their email address, and in return, they receive instant access to your downloadable files. This is a win-win – they get the content they want, and you get the contact info you need to nurture future relationships and drive engagement.

Step 1: Access the Download Buttons Settings

  1. Make sure you are using the Pro version and subscribed to the Business Plan or higher
  2. From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to MP3 Player > Settings > Download Buttons
  3. Activate the option: “Add Download Button For Each Track”. This will enable download buttons for all your tracks displayed on your website. If you want to enable Download Buttons only for a specific player, edit the player widget instance, and Enable Download Buttons
  4. Activate the option: “Enable Dynamic Visibility”. In most cases, you will want to set conditions to “Show Download Buttons if”, “User Logged In”, “Otherwise, Ask for an Email and Serve the File”.
  5. Locate the Dropdown “How to deliver the download file?”. You have two options for delivering the download file: either provide it immediately after the user fills out the Ask for Email form or send it automatically via email. Sending the file by email ensures that the user has entered a valid email address, giving you more accurate information.

Step 2: Test the Download Buttons

  1. Open your website in an incognito window (ensuring you’re logged out of WordPress) to view it as a guest visitor. You should now see the Free Download buttons displayed next to your tracks.
  2. If you do NOT see the download buttons, make sure you are testing it in an incognito window (or at least, you respect the Dynamic Conditions you have set), and that you have enabled the CTA in your player widget. See screenshot.
  3. Click the Free Download button. You should get the Download Files once the form has been submitted.

Step 3: Look and Feel of the Lightbox Modal

  • To change the colors and typography of the lightbox modal, go to MP3 Player > Settings > Popup/Lightbox

Step 4: Export your Collected Email Addresses

  1. Navigate to MP3 Player > Settings > Collected Emails
  2. From this screen, you can export the emails you have collected by clicking Export Email in CSV Format. The Start and End Date are optionals.
  3. Save the file on your computer.

Step 5: Import CSV into your favorite mailing list platforms

Here are the official documentation links for the 3 most popular Mailing List platforms for importing CSV files. Depending on the platform, you might have to tweak the CSV file according to their requirements.
